Two Weeks To Go

This time two weeks I'll be on the ferry to Cherbourg! The hotel is booked south of Paris for our first night, permission has been given for Roxy, the guide dog pup, to travel  up on deck, but Fionn will be confined to the hold for 18 hours, bring on the valium. For Fionn that is, not me!

Gigi's passport has been updated, with her official name "Galbally Girl Number One", and her microchip number.

I've ordered hoof trimming supplies, aging backs struggle to hold up horses feet for rasping purposes, so a foot stand has been ordered along with a new sharp rasp.

Feet have been measured numerous times, and finally we have settled on the hoof boots , oddly enough both horses are the same size behind, so it's red boots for Flurry and yellow for Gigi, to avoid any confusion.

Amidst all this, Polly's birthday has been celebrated in style and much fund raising done for IGDB, selling cards and calendars and numerous other items. People have been very generous and I have reached my target already, but I'll try and squeeze in a couple more days before we leave. Roxy found it all quite exhausting, but she has a new friend to keep her company

Oh yes there is still the Christmas shopping to be done....no I'm not panicking.....yet!

  4. Hello! Fiona (of Clive & Murray fame) told me about you blog and your upcoming adventure to raise funds for the Program for Assistance dogs for Families of children with Autism. What a wonderful thing to do. We are in France, but not the right bit, it seems. We are in the Perche, home to the Percheron breed! If you're ever in these parts, please give a shout!

  5. Hi everyone, it's lovely to see all the canines getting in touch. Our horses seem to have taken over the blog somewhat - more doggy stories will surely happen as we travel!

  7. @Helen, renegades, they seem the most versatile in fit. My big sister is coming from the US for CHristmas and will bring them with her, to cut the cost of shipping :-)
